In March 1992, Dr. Baldwin answered God's call into the gospel ministry. In March 1993, he was called to serve as Pastor of the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Simpsonville, South Carolina. Since Dr. Baldwin has been at Bethlehem, God has built on the foundation already laid. Bethlehem was blessed to move into a new sanctuary with a seating capacity of over 800, in October 1996. Bethlehem Baptist Church now has two worship services, as well as an established After-School Program and Summer Camp. In January 1997, Dr. Baldwin first revealed to Bethlehem the vision that God gave to him for Bethlehem to construct a Christian Life Center and Academy. In December 2004, Bethlehem moved into its 40,000 square foot building. The Life Center includes and administration area, a conference room, commercial kitchen, double gymnasium and 6 classrooms. The Bethlehem Christian Academy opened it’s doors for the first time in August of 2006. The Academy provides a comprehensive program of educational excellence featuring Formula Three, ABeka Bible Curriculum, and SC state standards for grades K4 through 3rd Grade.

Dr. Baldwin is the moderator of the Reedy River Baptist Association and he also serves on the board of Palmetto Bank. He is the co-chair of the Cooperative Ministries of Greenville County. Dr. Baldwin is Vice-President of Greenville Chapter of Operation PUSH. He is a member of the Progressive National Baptist Convention, The South Carolina Baptist Education and Missionary Convention, The Baptist Minister's Fellowship of Greenville County and Vicinity, and a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity.

Dr. Baldwin graduated in 1984 from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in Greensboro, North Carolina with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology with a Concentration in Manufacturing. In May 1999, he obtained his Master of Divinity degree from Erskine Theological Seminary in Due West, South Carolina. In May 2006, he earned his Doctorate of Ministry Degree at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.

Dr. Phillip Baldwin is a native of North Carolina. He is the son of Ethel Baldwin and the late Reverend Lynn Baldwin, Sr. and is the eighth of nine children. He is married to the former Wynell Harrison. Dr. and Mrs. Baldwin have been blessed with one daughter, LaJasmine.
